Howey
Ashfield Community Enterprise Limited in Howey, near Llandrindod Wells, Wales was awarded £433,840 by the Big Lottery Fund to launch an exciting community food enterprise. They used the money to buy and redevelop a nursery to provide a growing area for the local community.
The aim is for the community to grow and sell locally grown produce under the "Ashfield" brand through local food co-operatives, shops and a mobile catering business.
Ashfield's Village Champion is Ian Tremain, a former dairy farmer from Taunton, Somerset, who created an £8 million turnover animal feed business, Ian Tremain Ltd.
